We perform blower door testing to determine how much outdoor air is seeping into your home and compromising the efficiency of your system. We assess the heat load (the amount of heating your home needs) to make sure your unit has the right capacity to keep you and your family cozy. Plus, we test your existing ductwork for leaks and other potential problems.

Design Phase

Heat load testing

During heat load testing, we create an artificial heat load to make sure your new unit will be able to heat and cool your home efficiently, effectively and affordably. Contractors who don’t perform this test run the risk of providing you with a system that is the wrong size. An improperly sized system, whether it is too big or too small, doesn’t run efficiently.

Blower door testing

We measure your home’s airtightness, which is how much air is seeping out. We mount a powerful fan in a temporary airtight frame to one of your exterior doors. Then, we conduct a depressurization test in which the fan pulls air out of your home, which lowers the interior pressure and draws air from outside through unsealed cracks and openings into your indoor space. We use a pressure gauge to measure how much air the fan pulls out of the house and how much air comes in through the openings. Our results help us determine if there are cracks and openings that should be sealed to reduce energy loss—and eliminate high utility bills.

Duct leak testing

This test uses a calibrated fan to measure airflow and a device to determine the pressure created by the fan’s flow. During the test, we seal your registers and returns, except one. This allows us to determine how airtight your ductwork is and to seal up problem spots.

Refrigerant leak testing

Harsh temperatures, vibrations and imperfect joint fittings and welding points all can cause refrigerant leaks. Our sophisticated detection equipment pinpoints these energy-wasting leaks.

Clogs in the drainage system of your cooling and heating unit can lead to water damage and throw off humidity levels in your home. Our thorough testing will get to the bottom of these and other problems.

Once your system is up and running, we will return to conduct additional tests to verify that airflow is optimal. Follow-up inspections after installations? Who does that? We do!

      Erik showed up. Did a terrific job. Good conversation. I like it when the technician talks and explains things. I always did when I was a technician at my job. You should always be able to talk and work at the same time because customers want that these days. Okay not all customers but a good majority. Check the outside took the unit completely apart so that the coils could be cleaned correctly vacuumed out all of the leaves in the bottom of the unit. And of course before he did all of this he checked the unit to make sure it was running properly with the correct amount of freon in it. After he was finished doing the outside he came in the inside and checked the blower wheel and the coils. Found a little bit of mold in the distribution box. Offered to sell me a UV light and a new for about $1,500, but I just don't believe that the mold is that much of an issue yet. I feel like that should have been offered when the unit was installed back in 2018 if they knew mold could be a problem on coils. I may look at adding my own UV light to the Box after doing some research.Although at this point let me tell you I like being informed. That may not be for everyone. But I want to know what's happening. I don't want to find out several years from now that I should have done something.Now at least I know to keep an eye on it and I'll watch it over the next 6 months and it gets really bad then I will consider putting a professional light in there I know they make some pretty neat ultraviolet lighting.The other thing I like about Comfort Air is the fact that it's a family-run organization. It hasn't become a huge faceless Corporation. And they take care of you like family. I can tell you that when I had my AC system installed a number of years ago I did look at other companies. And Edgar- God Rest his soul- gave me the best deal. And you know what he didn't give me the cheapest air conditioner. He gave me the air conditioner I needed to take care of my residence. And he was still competitive with anyone else out there. Comfort Air they are good people that can be trusted to take care of you correctly whether it's a new air conditioner or whether it's Servicing an air conditioner you already have.
